A mold upender is a specialized type of industrial rotating machine designed to safely tilt heavy molds used for metal casting, plastic injection molding and other manufacturing processes. Molds can weigh anywhere from a few hundred pounds to over 50 tons. Manually rotating them 90 or 180 degrees for operation, cleaning and maintenance is difficult, unsafe and time consuming. A mold upender allows controlled, powered rotation of these large molds to improve workflow. It grips the mold securely between hydraulic clamping arms while an actuator motor smoothly tilts the mold to the desired angle, either 90 degrees to an upright position or 180 degrees fully upside down. This OSHA-compliant powered rotation protects workers from injury while increasing efficiency. Mobile mold upenders provide flexibility to relocate and use around a facility. Stationary upenders are robustly constructed and engineered to integrate with molding production lines.
